Awana

Awana is a global ministry committed to the belief that the greatest impact for Christ starts with kids who know, love and serve God. The name Awana is derived from the first letters of “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” which comes from the Bible verse in 2 Timothy 2:15 – “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” New Life Baptist Church is excited about the Awana program, and we are especially glad to have your child/teen participating in our weekly program on Sunday nights.

We are planning fun activities for all ages consisting of Bible stories, food, games, memorizing Bible verses, and special monthly events. The children/teens will have fun, while learning at their own pace, and will receive prizes and recognition for their accomplishments. Each Wednesday evening the activities will start with a 5:30 p.m. meal. The opening group session will begin at 6:00 p.m. followed by small group sessions divided by age. The sessions should end around 7:30 p.m.

The following information will be helpful to you:

• IMPORTANT: Only parents should pick up their children unless prior authorization has been received.
• All entry and exit from the church will be at the front door (facing FM 67) and will include check-in and check-out procedure for your child/teen’s safety.
• It is important that your child/teen bring their Awana book each week because it contains and tracks all of their accomplishments.
• Anyone wanting to stay and help with the Awana program will need to complete a form and meet with Jonathan Henton in advance.
